Programming

Amer Neely has been providing web-based programming for clients since 1998. The language of choice is Perl, which has been around since about 1986, and is used extensively for web-based programming. Perl is a very powerful and flexible language, and with its long history, has tons of support.

Amer chose Perl since it was fairly easy to learn, but also because it was the de facto language for scripting on the web.

Over the years Amer has solved many problems for clients, from the simple (log in) to the complex (create a complete Material Safety Data Sheet through web forms). Some clients have had some very interesting problems to solve and we managed to do just that. Not that none of these couldn't have been done in a different language, but Perl just seemed to make it so easy to do.

So, Perl is our language of choice for web-based scripting. In order for you to use our scripts of course you must have Perl available where you host your site. This is almost a non-issue today, since most hosts run some version of Unix or Linux, which all come with Perl. If it turns out you do not have access to Perl, or can't run your own custom scripts, contact us about our hosting service.
